Lois J. StocktonLebanon Lois (Johnson) Stockton, 95, was born on February 28, 1922 in Greenville, SC. She entered into rest on October 31, 2017, at 8:10 a.m. at Cedar Haven Nursing Home in Lebanon. Mrs. Stockton attended and graduated from Millcreek School (Newmanstown). Lois was married to William J. Stockton for 65 years before his death. From that union 2 sons were born, James Reginald (deceased) and David (Christine). She leaves to mourn, Carol (Johnson) Hayes; 2 sisters-in-law; 4 grandchildren; 9 great; 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. 13 children were born to Louie and Evangelist Katie Johnson of which 11 survived to adulthood. Lois was pre-deceased by her parents; husband; son, James; 8 brothers; 3 sisters; and 1 great-granddaughter. Lois was the second oldest daughter. Mrs. Stockton was employed at the Indiantown Gap Military Reservation during World War II as a seamstress tailoring officer's uniforms. She later was employed at the Diane Garment Factory and was a member of the Garment Workers Union for over 40 years. Lois was a servant of God throughout her adult life at St. John AME Church in Lebanon. She served as Church Clerk and Official Board Secretary and a variety of other ministries for over 40 years. She performed all duties and functions in an effective and efficient manner. Singing was a great part of who she was her entire life. She loved the Lord and her family. The family would like to thank everyone for all your cards, prayers, and other acts of kindness shown during our time of grief. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 1709 Center St., Lebanon, PA 17042. Interment will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Viewing hours will be held at the church prior to the service, from 9-11 a.m. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers and gifts, contributions may be made to St. Johns AME Church, 13th & Walnut Streets, Lebanon, PA 17042 and/or Gaudenzia, Inc., 30th & Derry Streets, Harrisburg, PA 17011 in the name of Lois Stockton.
