Lois Ann "Cookie" (Shibler) BeattyNEWARK: A Funeral Mass for Lois Ann "Cookie" (Shibler) Beatty, 73, formerly of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 23, 2017 with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.Lois passed away peacefully on Monday, December 5, 2016, at the Hi-Desert Continuing Care Center (CCC) in Joshua Tree, California. She was born on December 28, 1942 in Newark, Ohio to William and Theresa Shibler (Wessinger). She graduated from Newark Catholic High School, then went on to work for Park National Bank, where she had a life-long career of over 41 years; working at various branches including the Main Office, Utica and N. 21st St. Throughout life, Lois loved to garden, tending to her bonsai trees, dancing, crocheting, and competing in dog shows, where she won many ribbons with her favorite dog, Precious. She was actively involved in her children's lives, and her Parish community of St. Francis de Sales, in Newark, Ohio. At St. Francis, she served in different roles, including being the treasurer for the local Boy Scout Troop 8, a CCD aide, and a Eucharistic Minister. She was also an active member with the Women of St. Francis, and CHRP (Christ Renews His Parish). Later in life, Lois moved to Twentynine Palms, California, where she loved attending mass on Sundays at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Eventually, she became a permanent resident of the CCC in Joshua Tree, California, where she continued having an active lifestyle, and caring for the resident cat, Tonka. She was the President of the Rotarian Club, and an active member in both the Bible Study, and Journalism clubs. Lois loved reading her bible and teaching residents how to pray the rosary; frequently praying for, and with, others. Her beautiful life will be remembered and cherished by her two children: Heidi (Bryan) Burgett, and Scott Beatty. She will be missed by her two grandchildren, Breanna and Matthew Burgett, her brother, Bill (Liz) Shibler, her nieces, Nancy Vivo, and Julia Landrum, and her nephew, Phillip Shibler. She joins in heaven her mother and father, Theresa and William Shibler, and her nephew, David Shibler. Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 5-7 P.M., Monday, May 22, 2017, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M.The family requests her favorite colors teal, turquoise, blue and green or any bright colors to be worn for the services.
