Ms. Liza Lena Golden Tumpie RACINE Ms. Liza L. Golden (nee: Anderson), 79, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital on Monday, October 5, 2015. She was born on January 23, 1936 in New Albany, Mississippi to the late William Morris and Betty Mae Ratliff. Liza received her early education at Oakgrove School in Waterville, MS. While in Waterville, she accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Oakgrove Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Keys. In 1953 she married her husband, Raymond Golden Sr. (deceased). A couple years later, Liza and Raymond Sr. moved to Racine, where Liza was the Head Cook of Chit Chat Choo Restaurant. She later gained her degree in Early Childhood Development from Gateway Technical College. Shortly after, she began employment at Garfield School as a Recreational Supervisor. Liza continued her career as a Recreational Supervisor at the Breakthrough (King) Community Center through the City of Racine until 1980 when she retired. She continued her confession to Christ in Racine at the Second Missionary Baptist Church and later continued her fellowship at United Faith Baptist Church until her health began to fail. Liza was a faithful member of the choir, kitchen committee and prayer warriors team. In addition to enjoying her church activities, she also found pleasure in gardening, quilting, and being an avid member of the community. Liza was an amazing cook, and was known for her Peach Cobbler. Her most cherished moments where when she spent time with her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her everlasting memories, children, James (Kathy) Golden, Jerry (Bertha) Golden of Madison, and Christine Golden; 16 grandchildren, 41 great- grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildrenShe is further survived by her sister Lillian Finley of Blue Springs, MS; sister-in-laws, Ruby Anderson and Juanita Anderson of Memphis, TN; brother, Billy Stewart of Colorado Springs, CO; special friend of the family Marlo (Sam) Coey; a host of nieces, nephews, special friends; Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Tharpe, Mr. Cleveland Scaife, Ms. Bernice Hardville, Mrs. Cora Owens, Ms. Christine Hill and a number of other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention. In addition to her parents and husband, Liza is preceded in death by her daughter, Glenda Golden; stepdaughter, Helen Cole; sons, Raymond Golden Jr. and Terry Golden; stepson, William D. Johnson; sisters Rose McClelland and Betty Foots; sister-in-laws, Eileen Anderson and Georgia Anderson; brothers, Calvin Anderson, Rev. Vermon Anderson, Sonny Anderson, William Anderson; other relatives and special companion, Mr. Elmer C. Jackson. Services for Liza will be Friday October 16, 2015 at United Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 1327 Blake Ave., Racine. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
