Lino Flores CoronaOxnard, CALino Flores Corona was born on March 30, 1944, at home in the Colonia.Lino attended local schools and went to Oxnard High School until he was 15. He later obtained his diploma and went on to earn his AA at Ventura College and BA at San Jose State College. It was there he met his future wife, Kathy. To this marriage they were blessed with two daughters, Lori Ann and Elizabeth. He was later again blessed with five grandchildren, Alexander, Adrian, Ava and Ana Ek and Joseph Corona. He loved each one with all his heart.Lino's career started in 1968 as a social worker for the County of Ventura. He was later assigned as head of the Family Counseling Office in the Colonia. During that time he was active in many community programs. He coached at Our Lady of Guadalupe School and Colonia Park and was known by many young people simply as "Coach Lino". His fondest accomplishment, along with Sister Michael Mioli, was the origination of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Girl's Basketball Tournament. It still exists today as the Oxnard Basketball Tournament for boys and girls.In 1974 he was hired by the City of Oxnard as a Personnel Analyst and was eventually promoted to Human Resources Director in 2001. He retired in 2004 and moved to Las Vegas for a short time, but he was called back to Oxnard where he remained until his passing. Lino will be remembered as a kind, understanding and appreciative boss and friend He is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Elizabeth, sister Elaine Ruiz and 5 grandchildren.Lino was predeceased by his parents Dolores and Marcos Corona; brother Cruz Corona and first daughter Lori Ann Corona. Recitation of the rosary is planned for 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, in the chapel of the Camino Del Sol Funeral Home, 200 North "C" St., Oxnard, where friends may visit from 5:00-9:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated, 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, at Santa Clara Catholic Church, 323 South "E" St. Burial will follow in Santa Clara Cemetery, 2370 North "H" St., Oxnard. lieu of flowers, donations may be made to (PAL) Police Activities League, P.O.
