Linda Louise Perkins, 72, wife of James R. Perkins, passed away on Sept. 30, 2016, at Summit Square following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.Linda was born on April 10, 1944 in Buffalo, N.Y. She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1962 and from Genesee Community College with high honors in 1974. Jim and Linda were married on June 25, 1966. They have two children, Julie and Rebecca; and four grandchildren, Logan, Madeline, Alexander and Emi.Prior to her retirement in 2008, Linda worked as a realtor earning many honors for sales and service to her community. Prior to her real estate work she was employed by the University of Virginia Law School and the Frontier Culture Museum.Linda was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother and active member of her community. She was a member of the Waynesboro Women's Club, the Waynesboro Chorale Society and a volunteer at the Main Street Methodist Food Pantry. She will always be remembered for her caring heart, her beautiful smile, her positive attitude, and her wonderful voice. She loved her gardens and could be found each day making sure that each plant received the same exceptional care she gave to everything she did. Her family always came first as they were the most important thing in her life.Linda was predeceased by her parents, Eleanor and Joseph Weinman. Surviving are her two sisters, Pamela and Jerri; and her two brothers, Thomas and Charles; her husband of 50 years; their two daughters; and their four grandchildren.The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Summit Square in Waynesboro, Virginia for their wonderful care and friendship during Linda's last year; to the many Home Instead care givers who helped her deal with the challenges of her disease; and to Linda's many friends and neighbors for their support.Arrangements are under the direction of McDow Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 4 p.m., with a reception to follow.Memories and condolences may be shared at
