Leslie G TallyNovember 17, 1954 - April 20, 2016Leslie Gene Tally, 61, of Nampa, ID, passed away peacefully at home from medical complications resulting from Myasthenia Gravis, an autoimmune disease, on April 20th, 2016.Les was born on November 17, 1954 in Clarinda, Iowa, to Paul and Alice Tally. At age two, the family moved to Middleton, Idaho and later to Nampa, Idaho where he has since resided. He was one of eight children. His early life was filled with hard times, but Les had ambition and ingenuity, and always found a way to earn a few extra dollars for the family. Sometimes it was finding yards to mow while pulling a lawn mower with his bicycle; working for local farmers, the Storey Poultry Farm, the Nampa Livestock yard, in addition to topping trees with his Dad. He was always looking for any job that could be accomplished by honest, hard work.He went to work for Rogers Brothers at the age of 16 cleaning burlap bags. He worked for Rogers Brothers for 22 years, ultimately finishing his career as the LSV Operations Manager for the Northwest. During his time at Rogers Brothers, he was also sent to New Zealand to oversee plant operations.Les worked for Asgrow Seed Co (Seminis) as the plant manager for over 10 years. He then returned to Rogers Brothers (Syngenta) as Operations Manager in 2001. His last employer was Dairyland Seed Co. in Homedale as the Warehouse Manager. No matter where he worked, Les earned the loyalty and respect of those he worked with. He had a passion for excellence and the highest standards of integrity and honesty. He was a true "seeds man," making sure the final customer received the best quality seed possible. Although he had reached the management level, he was happiest when he could jump on a forklift and work side by side with his crew.Les married Jana Zechmann in 1972. They were married for nine years and had one son, Lonnie G. Tally.Les married Carol Johnson in 1993. They had each found their true love. When Les married Carol, he gained two daughters, Erin and Elizabeth. The family spent 12 years on a small acreage south of Nampa, raising horses, cows, pigs, chickens, and assorted dogs and cats. Les loved gardening, especially tomatoes, so each year they grew a big garden. They moved into Nampa in 2005 and have resided there since. When he was no longer strong enough to enjoy his lifetime hobbies of hunting, four-wheeling, camping and fishing, he developed a passion for rock-cutting. Many happy hours were spent in his garage cutting and polishing rocks with his best friend, Tim Doser.Les is survived by his wife Carol, son Lonnie (Ashley) G. Tally of Graham, WA, stepdaughters Erin N. Johnson and boyfriend Zak Anderson of Boise and Elizabeth (Jon) Allen of Belleville, WI; grandchildren Kaden G. He also had a special bond with Myles Sexton, whom he thought of like a son.Les was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Raymond, Marvin and Ron.Special thanks to Signature Hospice (formerly XL Hospice) of Nampa, especially Bethany and Kelli, for their compassionate and loving care to Les and Carol.Les was a big guy with incredible strength before his illness, but even bigger was his heart, caring and kindness.
