Leroy Robinson, mostly known as “Ali” was born to the union of Walter and Maple Robinson in Greenville, Mi and raised in Biloxi, Mi. Along with his four brothers Eddie Lee, Walter Jr., Raymond (who has proceeded him in death) Michael and three sisters Dorothy, Ola Bea and Linda.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and served his country for two years before being discharged in 1958. In 1961 he joined the Muslim faith and married his former wife Margaret Garrison. Their union produced four children, two daughters (Victoria and Sylvia) and two sons (Leroy Jr. and Kenneth) before the marriage ended.
Ali owned and operated a successful restaurant by the name of Solomon’s in the Pullman area on the southeast side of Chicago after meeting his lifetime partner Jacqueline R. Lowe in 1989. He was most famous for his “secret batter”of fried fish and authentic sweet potato and bean pies.
Ali leaves to cherish his memory of his siblings, children, four grandchildren (Fatimah and Khiry Kabir), (Da’rell and Dominick Simpson), a hosts of beloved nieces,nephews, etc. cousins.
