WEST KENNEBUNK - Leonard P. Authier, 86, a longtime resident of West Kennebunk, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, in Sanford.
Leonard, who often went by his middle name Paul, was born on April 1, 1929, to Charles H. and Clara (Bouffard) Authier in Sanford, where he grew up and attended St. Ignatius schools.
Leonard worked in construction for most of his life, building and remodeling many houses in the Sanford and Kennebunk areas. Always liking to work, he spent his retirement years working as a caretaker at the Kennebunk Beach Improvement Association and also as an usher at the Portland Sea Dogs games, where he enjoyed meeting and talking to people from all over the country.
He was preceded in death by: his older brother, Charles H. Authier Jr.
He is survived by: his four children, Christopher Authier and his wife Lisa of East Lebanon, Jon Authier and his wife Kelly of Williamsburg, Virginia, Melanie Peters and her husband Gary of Sanford and Maryellen Authier of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Estelle Doherty of Kennebunk and Germaine Jackson of Sanford; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service and burial will be held in the spring.
