Leon Phillip Mcnair, passed away on Jan. 2, 2020, at Menorah Senior Home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born Aug. 8, 1945 , he was the son of the late Theodore and Viola Mcnair.
leon was a graduate of the Hempstead public school system. Leon graduated from Hempstead High School and later attended Adirondack Community College.
On May 6, 1976, Leon married the love of his life and best friend, Christine Berdon, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church.
Leon was a dedicated Contracter, Known for his entrepreneurship and extreme optimism. Leon incorporated his business, specializing in residential and commercial poured walls and flatwork. His commitment to efficient customer service led him to expand into residential and commercial excavation, site development, and water and sewer services.
Leon loved his family. Especially his granddaughters. Leon was an only child and he leaves to mourn his son Anthony Leon Mcnair and his granddaughters: Ciara, Chanpale, Domonique, and Dianna. Along with his grandchildren: Nyajiah Bishop, King Mcnair, and Gabrieal Mcnair.
Leon will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, distinguished professor of fine arts, humorist, environmentalist, champion of social consciousness, proud patriot and US Navy veteran.
