NEWBERRY — Leatrice Kuchenny Heil, 82, of Newberry, died Monday, October 31, 2016 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
Mrs. Heil was born on November 4, 1933 in Chicago, Ill., a daughter of the late George and Helen Nowicki Kuchenny.
She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, where she was very involved in many of the activities there.
Lea was an outstanding cook, winning numerous awards. She always enjoyed going to the beach with family and friends and her favorite flower was the pink rose.
She is survived by her husband, Alexis J. "Al" Heil; children, Richard S. Heil (Cynthia) of Jonesboro, Ga., Monica Lea Rohan (Peter) of Woodstock, Ga., and A. J. Heil (Tammy), of Smyrna, Ga.; and grandchildren, Jason Heil, Spencer Heil; Rachel Scott; Rebecca Beach, Tracey Sharrock, Jessyca Mangum, Taylar Nhep, Megyne Rohan, Peter Rohan Jr., Andrew Heil, and Jacob Heil. She loved her grandchildren and was very devoted to them, attending as many of their activities as time and her health permitted. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren. and was predeceased by two children, Bethany Scott and Tracey Ann Heil.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2016 at St. Mark's Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
