Lake, Lawrence P.Lawrence P. Lake, 90, formerly of Greene, NY, passed away on Sat, June 3, 2017 at Elizabeth Church Nursing Home in Binghamton, NY. Larry was predeceased by his father, James, mother, Anna, step-mother, Dorothy (Dot), wife, Edna and son, Rory. He is survived by sons, James and Andrew, daughters, Lauren and Randi, and daughters-in-law, Barbara [Heisler] Lake and Mary [Gilroy] Lake, as well as grandsons, Christopher and Cory Bonanno and step-granddaughters, Sarah, Libby, and Hannah Hogan.He was born on Staten Island on June 22, 1926 and attended Curtis High School where he met Edna Eiss, who eventually became his wife and the love of his life.Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating from high school. He received an honorable discharge in 1948. Taking full advantage of the G.I. Bill, Larry received his bachelor's degree from Clarkson University and his master's degree from the University of Michigan. He had a distinguished career working in a variety of human resource positions, first with General Electric and, subsequently, from NYSEG from which he retired in 1988 after 28 years. Larry loved living in Greene and did his fair share to serve the community. He served on the Greene Central School Board, was a member of the Greene Chamber of Commerce and coordinated the Greene Labor Day Picnic for many years.He most enjoyed spending time with his family and relatives, civic engagement, helping whomever and wherever he could, and all things related to golf. He never went anywhere without making a friend. Among many wonderful memories, his family members will particularly remember our trips to Hawaii, Jamaica, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, which he planned with meticulous care, so we could all enjoy Christmas together somewhere warm and beautiful.Larry's family is very grateful for the wonderful neighbors he had while living in Greene and the loving care of the staff at St. Louise Manor, where he resided for the past year.Funeral services have been entrusted to Kennedy Funeral Home Inc. 21 N. Chenango Street, Greene, NY 13778. Calling hours will be held on Wed, June 7, 2017 from 7:00 PM- 9:00 PM at the funeral home. The burial will be private.
