Lawrence Dean Duke of Clovis, California, passed away on Monday, Sep-tember 29, 2008, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Lawrence was born on October 1, 1931, to Haskel and Lula Duke in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He came to Fresno during the dust bowl era and has been a life long resident. Lawrence was a proud Eagle Scout and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. For 55 years he worked and was respected in the dry wall industry working 45 of those years for Elmer Elia Drywall. His passion had been traveling to as many games as he could to watch his grandsons play baseball and football. Lawrence is survived by Margie Duke, his wife and partner of 53 years; daughter, Cathy Duke Patton and her husband Mike; son, Larry Duke and his wife Cynthia; daughter, Cindy Duke Moranda and her husband Dean, and their sons Steven and Seth; siblings, O.C. "Carroll" Duke of Clovis, California, and Cordell Duke of Gore, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Boice Funeral Home, on Sunday, October 5, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Clovis Cemetery, on Monday, October 6, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to the donors favorite charity.
