TOPEKA — LaVon D. "Mose" Shrock, age 50, of Topeka, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, following an illness resulting from a stroke in 2014. He was born on March 24, 1965, the son of Moses and MaryEtta (Mishler) Shrock in Elkhart, Indiana. On Oct. 30, 2010, he married Rachael Yoder-Thomas; she survives. Also surviving are his siblings, Lorene (Greg) Schrock of Topeka, Indiana, LaMar (Lisa) Shrock of Topeka, Indiana, and Leon Shrock of Wolcottville, Indiana; Rachael's children, Desiree Carnahan and Sarah Mae (Gabe) Howard; niece, Andrea (Courtney) Miller; and a nephew, Austin Shrock. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. LaVon was an incredibly hard worker and owned and operated LaVon's Lawn Care for 20 years. He grew up attending Emma Mennonite Church and was currently a member of Topeka United Methodist Church and the Elks. Lavon was a caretaker of Eden Cemetery for many years. He loved sports and never gave up on the Cubs. LaVon enjoyed playing golf, being outdoors, visiting Florida, and going to the Indy 500 every year. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Indiana. Pastor Dianna Siegel will officiate. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery in Topeka, Indiana. Family and friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at the funeral home.
