Laverne Tooke was born on Tuesday, May 06, 1919 in Ben Lomond, AR. She passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Joyful Journeys in Denton,TX.Laverne worked during WW2 at Red River Army Depot. Laverne enjoyed the many years of work at the drug store where she sold cosmetic, milkshakes and delivered medicine. Laverne sold Avon for 7 years in the New Orleans, Louisiana district. Laverne was a devoted wife and mother. She loved gardening, cooking and baking. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Bayou Scie Community, Louisiana. Laverne and Alvin lived in Raceland, LA for most of their married life and returned to Sabine Parish after retirement.She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Luther and Floy Knox Cobb; son, Charles William Perry; brother, Luther Watson Cobb.She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Ann Tooke Taylor and husband Stanley of Lewisville, TX. and son, Robert Richard Tooke of Zwolle, LA.; sister, Leoda Walker of DeQueen, AR.; grandchildren, Marcus Millwee, Jr. of DeQueen, AR and Paul A.
