Lauritz (Larry) KnudsenSnow Hill-Lauritz Knudsen has gone on to his next great adventure. He passed away on Tuesday, June 20th at his home in Snow Hill surrounded by his loving family. Lauritz was born on April 17, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Niels and Ann Knudsen, brother to Peter, and Eric who pre-deceased him. Larry graduated from Teaneck High School in New Jersey and Lafayette College in Easton, PA. He proudly served in the
Army as an officer. He was a member and past president of
Rotary Club, served on the boards of Haven House and Furnace Town Museum, an elder of Makemie Presbyterian Church, member of Jaguar Club of America, Co-manager of the Class of '60 Fund at Lafayette, Eagle Scout, Airborne certified, and had a Captain's rating for 50-ton marine craft, which he piloted on his beloved Pocomoke River.He and his wife of 54 years, Susanne, were drawn to Snow Hill in 1991 and became the owners of a beautiful river property they turned into the River House Inn Bed and Breakfast. For twenty years they warmly welcomed guests and served as innkeepers. In addition to his wife Susanne, he is survived by a daughter Melissa Evans and her husband Ken; grandchildren Thomas and Genevieve Ott; nephews Lee, Jay and Christian Knudsen; nephews Jeffrey and Daniel Becker; niece Wednesday Knudsen and her husband Clark Griffin; plus "extra daughters" Elizabeth Brown and Audrey Greenwood. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 3rd at Makemie Memorial Presbyterian Church in Snow Hill, MD with visiting hour beginning at 1pm and service at 2pm.
