In Memoriam: Larry Jacobs (1961-2023)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Jacobs, a beloved member of the Washington D.C. community, born August 24, 1961. Larry, 62, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2023, surrounded by his family. Larry is the son of the late Willie and Sarah Jacobs.
Born and raised in the vibrant neighborhoods of the nation's capital, Larry was a proud Washingtonian. Despite facing the challenges that life presented, Larry approached every obstacle with determination and a contagious optimism that left a lasting impact on those around him.
Larry attended Ballou high school, where he developed a reputation for his warm personality and genuine kindness. He was not only a good student but also a loyal friend to many. After graduating, Larry took on various jobs within the city, contributing to the rich tapestry of Washington D.C.'s diverse workforce. Though he may not have pursued higher education, Larry practical wisdom and street smarts made him an invaluable member of any team he joined.
What truly defined Larry, however, was his unwavering dedication to his family. He was a loving son, brother, and friend, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a supportive word. His warm smile and sense of humor were constants in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
In his spare time, Larry enjoyed exploring the historical landmarks of his city, from the majestic monuments to the hidden gems tucked away in the neighborhoods he called home. Larry had a passion for walking; he often walked everywhere and always told people "All I need is Pete and Pat and I can get anywhere" * Pete and Pat were his left and right foot. *
He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted and loving siblings Barbara Jacobs, Theresa Jacobs, Anthony Jacobs, Ronnie Jacobs, Robert Lee Jacob, and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him.
Larry Jacobs' departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be remembered not only for his resilience but also for the love and compassion he shared with everyone he encountered. May his spirit live on in the memories of those whose lives he touched and may his journey into the beyond be as remarkable as the legacy he leaves behind.
