Larry R. Coomer, age 72 of New Bloomington, died Saturday, October 29, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 10, 1944 to the late Julia Imogene Dray and Clay Coomer Jr.
Larry was a 1963 graduate of Cardington High School where he excelled in sports. Larry's football career through high school totaled 519 points in four seasons. That is the fabulous scoring record of Cardington halfback Larry Coomer. Coomer had spent four years at offensive and defensive halfback. He landed a spot on the all Mid-Ohio football league team for his final two seasons.
After high school Larry went on to work at Whirlpool in Marion where he was a press operator for 45 years. In his spare time he loved hunting, fishing and attending auctions.
On March 31, 1987, he married Deborah Darlene Doubikin in Marion, Ohio and she survives him.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his children Todd (Sheryl) Coomer of Nevada, Dawn Booker of Bucyrus, Chad Coomer of Marion, Troy Stotelmyre of Marion, Tedd Stotelmyre of CA and Katherine Stotelmyre of Cardington; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Grosh of Cardington and numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Coomer.
Friends may call Tuesday November 1, 2016 from 4:00-8:00PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Wednesday November 2, 2016 at the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Following the service the burial will take place in the Glendale Cemetery.
