Mr. Laran "Sugarman" StokesLansingAge 70 years old, son of David and Annie Stokes. Laran was born on March 24, 1947 in Utica, Mississippi.  He departed this life for his heavenly home on July 6, 2017. Laran was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church, for over 25 years.  Sugarman enjoyed listening to preaching and going to church.  He loved singing in the choir especially, the male chorus and singing his favorite song, "I'm on the right road now". Sugarman, also loved spending time with his family, friends (which were many) and loved ones.  He never met a stranger. Sugarman was loved by all who he came in contact with.  He always greeted you with a smile.  He also enjoyed watching westerns. He was preceded in death by: his mother and father, Annie and David Stokes. He leaves to cherish her memory: his sister, Gladys Thomas; brothers, Clyde Stokes of Jackson, Mississippi, Pastor Albert (Virginia) Stokes of Utica, Mississippi and Pastor Will (Mattie) Stokes of Lansing, Michigan; friend, Luke; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Mr. Laran Stokes will lie in repose Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 2-5pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph St., Lansing, Michigan. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Little Rock Baptist Church, 433 S. Magnolia Avenue, Lansing, Michigan.
