Lacey Violet JamesRICHMOND, Ind. - Lacey Violet (Burns) James died on Thursday, June 16, 2011, of natural causes while a resident at Bellbrook Nursing Center in Bellbrook, Ohio.She was born on Nov. 28, 1921, to Fred and Emma (Bear) Burns in Pike County, Ky., and is survived by her sister, Lillian Fleming of Detroit, Mich.; daughter, Marlana Moench of Joshua Tree, Calif.; daughter, Jacqueline Keable and her husband Jack of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; son, Herman Henry (Hank) James III of Richmond, Ind.; grandson, John L. Clark III and his wife Dana of Houston, Texas; grandson, Geoffrey T. Keable of Boca Raton, Fla.; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Aleksandra Keable; a special and dear cousin, Ron Fields and his wife Brenda of Brookville, Ohio; as well as many nephews and nieces who will miss her.Lacey was loved by the members of Riverside Church of God in Dayton, Ohio, and The Crossroads Church of God in New Castle, Ind., and, until recently, Lacey entertained church members, hospital patients and other members of the community with her cheerful spiritual singing and guitar playing. Her goal was to uplift those in need. Lacey was an accomplished song writer and singer and many of her original songs were recorded. She was a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.Lacey retired after over 20 years of retail service with Elder-Beerman's as the Fur/Coat Department Manager in Dayton, Ohio, and after moving to Hagerstown, Ind., continued working in the Richmond, Ind., store assisting customers with her ready smile and willingness to help.Living in Philadelphia, Pa., Lacey was an avid golf player and a member of the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club in the 1950s. She was also a member of the Models Guild of Philadelphia and became one of the top models of the area, modeling for Bonwit Teller, Gimbels, Blums and modeled for Lufthansa Airlines in April 1965. Her life was full of adventure and willingness to make a difference to those around her. She will be greatly missed and remembered.Memorial service 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Tobias Funeral Home - Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Road, Dayton, OH 45429.
