Sparky passed away at his home in Cloudcroft on May 8, 2017 under Hospice care. He was born on May 25, 1929 in Cloudcroft. He was a life-long resident of the Sacramento Mountains. He spent his childhood days at the old homestead now known as Rogers Ruins. He then lived at Marcia; a logging camp-town at the mouth of Water Canyon in Upper Rio Penasco Canyon. He spent 25 years working at Otero County Electric Cooperative and 25 years as the Owner of Cloudcroft Electric. Married for 51 years to Carolyn Pender Rogers; she passed away on July 12, 2005. They have four children; Tanna, Ricky, Stacy and Crystal, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service and Dinner will be held at the Lodge Pavilion in Cloudcroft on May 26, from 5:30-8pm.
