Kurt Edward VietenAGE: 89 • Sequim, WAPassed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his home in Sequim, WA. Kurt was born on February 24, 1927, in Krefeld, Germany to William and Therese Vieten. The family immigrated to the United States in 1929 and settled in Orange, New Jersey.Kurt moved to Denville, New Jersey in 1953 and joined the Volunteer Fire Department in 1955. He became the Chief in 1964 and was active until 1969. He was married to Helen Vieten while living in Denville, NJ.He moved to Southern California in 1969 to work as a Tool and Die maker. He became the owner of an Aerospace machining company and ran that business until recently. He married Norma Unruh. They were married for over 40 years when she passed in 2015. He and Norma lived in Aguanga and Hemet, California before moving to Washington 17 years ago.Kurt was very involved in the Elks (Exalted Ruler), Eagles (President), the Moose, the Footprinters (President) and the
VFW.Kurt is survived by his son, Kurt W. Vieten, Kurt W.'s wife Kristina; his grandsons, David and Drew Vieten, all of Calabasas, California; his step-children, Lynnda Unruh Malone of MI, Mikell Unruh of WA and grandchildren Dyan Ferris of California, Dr. Chelsea Unruh, WA, Mandy Looney of MI and great-granddaughters Zoe and Morgan.There will be a celebration of life at Paradise Restaurant in Sequim, Washington, February 25th at 5 pm.
