King Duncan of Scotland Obituary

Mar 29, 1001 - Aug 14, 1040

This obituary is administered by:

A Kind and Generous Man, Loved by His People of Scotland. He Will be Greatly Missed by Many.

King Duncan of Scotland, 39, of Forres, Scotland, passed on August 14, 1040, leaving behind a legacy of valor and leadership. Born on March 29, 1001, he ascended to the throne, bringing prosperity and stability to the kingdom. Known for his wise counsel and fearlessness in battle, King Duncan dedicated his life to the betterment of Scotland, tirelessly working to unite clans and forge alliances. His reign saw a time of peace and growth, remembered fondly by his subjects. The loss of this revered ruler fills the hearts of the Scottish people with sorrow, as they mourn the passing of a beloved king and a symbol of national pride. May his noble soul rest in eternal peace. Our beloved King always put the needs of his country above his own, attempting to provide unity within us. King Duncan will be remembered for his army's brave acts of courage in their war against Norway. During his life, King Duncan provided a safe community for the people of Scotland to enjoy. As stated in Act lV, scene 3 of Macbeth, King Duncan truly was "The royal father," as he fathered two youthful sons, Malcolm and Donalbain. King Duncan wasn't just a King to his people. he was a friend, neighbor, and it was a privilege to be in his presence. He never let anything set him off course from what he wanted to get done. Some of his greatest achievements are raising a strong, trained, and well respected army, or leading his country to a proud and successful life. Our King never attempted to harm anyone that looked up to him in anyway, his main goal in life was to lead the people of Scotland and to never betray them in any way. Our poor King's life was unexpectedly taken on August 14, 1040. As King Duncan was nearing his final moments, he laid peacefully in his bed, resting for the night. His life was taken by his near ally Macbeth, as his life was taken while at rest. Nobody expected King Duncan to ever leave his kingdom so early, and especially no one expected his life to be taken from him. King Duncan most definitely did not deserve this death. In the words of King Duncan's own killer, "Besides, this Duncan hath borne his faculties so meek, hath been So clear in his great offiice, that his virtues will plead like angels, trumpet-tongued, against The deep damnation of his taking off," stated by Macbeth, in Act 1, Scene 7 of William Shakespeare's Macbeth. This shows that even the killer of our beloved King, knew how royal and great our King Duncan really was. King Duncan will be greatly missed by many, especially his people of Scotland. We mourn our loss of our great King, and pray his legacy will live on forever!
