Kenneth MittonMarch 19, 1935 - September 1, 2013Kenneth Larry Mitton, age78, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 1, 2013 in Chubbuck, Idaho. Kenneth was born on March 19, 1935 in Pocatello, Idaho. He was the first born of Monte Thorvald and Faye Overton Mitton. He attended Washington Elementary, Irving Jr. High and Pocatello High School, graduating in 1954. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1957. He was employed for 42 years as a switchman/brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad.Kenneth married Lorraine Clark on January 23, 1958 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on December 23, 1960. They are the parents of four children; KayLynn (Steve) Denning, Chubbuck, Shonni Garbett, Chubbuck, Thane (Lynette) Mitton, Mapleton, UT and Carolee (Troy) Gardner, Pocatello. They have 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Kenneth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a counselor in a bishopric, a ward clerk, and membership clerk for several bishoprics. He enjoyed bicycling, camping, boating and waterskiing. He also loved working in his yard, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a skilled carpenter and built several homes with his dad and brother, including the family home in Chubbuck. He was very handy and could repair or build anything.Kenneth is survived by his wife; children; grandchildren; brothers, Dean Mitton, Pocatello, Vance (Leann) Mitton, Las Vegas, NV; sister, Janet (Steve) Clinkscales, Chubbuck; brothers-in-law, Dick (Barb) Clark, Surprise, AZ, Neil Clark, Couer'd Alene, ID, and a sister-in-law, Lois (Paul) Wanamaker, Sun City, AZ.He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; mother-in-law, Ireta Clark; brother-in-law, Grant Clark; and sister-in-law, Margaret Mitton.Funeral services for Kenneth will be held at 11 a.m. on Thur., Sept. 5, 2013 at the Chubbuck 2nd Ward LDS Chapel on the corner of Chubbuck & Hawthorne Road, with Bishop Kim Guymon officiating. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 4, 2013 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Rd and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
