Kenneth Lee Fransen 1928—2016Kenneth Lee Fransen, 88, formerly of Freeport Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016, in Sun City, Arizona. Kenny as he was known to his friends was born on the farm in Cherry Grove, Carroll County, Illinois on April 2nd, 1928, to Herman and Grace Fransen. He joined the US Army and served his Country from 1950-1952, after being stationed in Korea and Ft. Hood, Texas. Kenny returned to Freeport and married Dolores Knoll on Feb 6th, 1954. He was employed by Burgess Cellulose/3M for 27 years, and Newell Corp. for 13 years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores of Sun City, Arizona; 5 daughters, Donna Fransen, Karen (Chris) Kovacs, Lorraine (Tom) Prindle, Diana (Dan) Herbst and Kelly (Chris) Stricker; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Patricia Bolinsky, Pearl City Illinois; and his cousin, Mardella Kuper of Forreston, Illinois. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Fransen, Grace (Buss) Fransen Buntjer; stepfather, Ben Buntjer; brother, Russell R. Fransen; and his favorite aunt and uncle, Alice and Jacob Fransen.Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will take place in Freeport, Illinois at a later date.
