Lt. Col. (Ret.) Kenneth J. Crace, age 87, of Oscoda and formerly of Shreveport, La., died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born on March 5, 1922, in South Webster, Ohio, to Lewis and Carrie (nee Jackson) Crace. Kenneth was a graduate of South Webster High School and also attended Ohio State University and University of Texas. He retired from Home Finder Realty after 23 years. Kenneth retired after 28 years of service as a Lt. Col. with the United States Air Force. He enjoyed boating, stock trading and, most of all, taking drives in the country during the autumn months to admire the changing colors of the trees. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis and Oscoda Yacht Club. Kenneth married his wife, Dorothy E. Tressler, on Sept. 11, 1982, at Oscoda United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dolly;" his children, Patricia S. (Cleveland III) Turner of Amarillo, Texas, and Kenneth J. Jr. (Emily) Crace of Shreveport; and his stepchildren, Suzanne Armstrong of Venice, Calif., Paula (Darryl) Kline of Anaheim, Calif., and Ronald Roebuck of German Town, Md. Kenneth is also survived by his grandchildren, Wes and Andrea Turner; his step-grandchildren, Brook Breen, Caleb Esterhuizen, Brighton Oothoudt, James Roebuck and Jennifer Morris; his step-great-grandchildren, Blake, Ben and Cassey Hartig; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 25, at Oscoda United Methodist Church with Pastor Bri Desotell officiating. Arrangements were by Buresh-Bennett Funeral Homes, Inc. in Oscoda.
