LEMOYNE Kenneth H. (Harold) Ernest, longtime resident of Lemoyne, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2014, in Dallas-town. He was born on June 9, 1932, to the late Pauline (Baker) and Benjamin Ernest. He served in the United States Army (1953-1961) at Fort Bragg, N.C., and in the United States Army Reserves at Fort Indiantown Gap. He worked at the United States Department of Defense, DLA Aviation in the maintenance department in Middletown and Mechanicsburg until his retirement in 1987. He married Frances M. Gordon on July 30, 1955. He was a member of the American Legion Post #143,
VFW, and NARFE West Shore #1465, as well as the Monaghan Fire Hall and Central Penn Antique Arms Association, Inc. He could also be found working at the Olympic Skating Center in his earlier days. He was proceeded in death by his daughter, Catherine M. Miller; step-father, Charles Ballard; brothers, Benjamin Ernest, Jr., Karl Ernest and Gerald Ernest; sisters, Nancy Ernest, Marian Ernest, Joan Miller, Doris M. Rhoads and step-brother, Warren Ballard. He is survived by his wife, Frances; siblings, C. Arlene Neff and husband, Paul of Harrisburg, C. Elizabeth Kellison of Columbia, MD and Raymond Ballard of Bethlehem; and brother-in-law, Harold Gordon of Camp Hill; granddaughter, Laura M. (Miller) Klinedinst and her husband, Keith of York; great-grandchildren, Vincint and Allison, along with many special nieces, nephews and cousins. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Musselman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 324 Hummel Avenue, Lemoyne, and again on Friday at 9 a.m. with a funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will immediately follow with full military honors at Rolling Green Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to American Legion Post #143, 214 Market St, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
