Kenneth Frank Kargel of Hale passed away on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011 at West Branch Regional Medical Center, age 86 years. Kenneth was born on March 16, 1925 in Brainerd, Minn. to Charles and Lydia (nee Stein) Kargel. He proudly served our country in the United States Merchant Marines for seven years. He retired as a carpenter, and is a member of the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters Union. Kenneth also truly loved wood crafting, ice fishing, deer hunting, bird watching and working in his well groomed yard and landscaping. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Mildred, to whom he married on Sept. 11, 1948 in Dearborn. Also surviving are his children, Douglas (Brenda) Kargel of Hale, Catherine (Howard) Garms of Brownstown, Shirley (Kenneth) Robinson of West Bloomfield Township and Ricky (Judy) Kargel of Flat Rock; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Kargel, Dawn Robinson, Krystal (Jordan) Nash, Nicole Passmore and Ricky Kargel; one great grandson, Levi J. Nash; one brother, Robert (Sharon) Kargel of Pequot Lakes, Minn., one sister-in-law, Velma Kargel of Pequot Lakes, Minn.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kenneth was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Charles Kargel. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 15 at Buresh Funeral Home in Hale with Reverend Rob Nordin officiating. Interment is scheduled for today (Wednesday) in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Livonia. An on-line guest registry is available at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
