Kenneth AriwiteAugust 21, 1961 - May 25, 2013Kenneth Ariwite, 51 year old Gibson resident, returned to our creator on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.Kenneth was born on August 21, 1961, in Salmon, Idaho to Leo Ariwite Sr. and Irene Ariwite. His early years were lived in Salmon and he will be remembered for playing Pee Wee league baseball for The Honda Boys. He was the star pitcher and the whole town of salmon seemed to come out and cheer for him and his team mates.Kenneth was always in the company of his cousin Ferlin Ariwite and they both were the best of friends. Their childhood adventures took them to some of the funnest places.He was watched over by his brother Leo and their summers and autumns were spent fishing, along with Ken's favorite dogs "Rocky" and "Bosco".Kenneth finished his education in Blackfoot and after high school graduation, his first job was with the Fort Hall Tribal Police Department as the Jailer. He worked there along side of his older brother (cousin) Ronnie Two Eagles and he later became a Tribal Patrol Officer.Kenneth then worked for Bannock Paving for several years and it was in June of 1994 he met his life partner and wife, Petrina Doney. Kenneth raised four children during his marriage. He later worked for the Shoshone Bannock Tribes Fisheries and worked there until he was unable to continue.Kenneth was a "Sun Dancer" and an avid hunter and fisherman and could be seen along any river counting reds or fishing for salmon.Kenneth is survived by his wife Petrina Ariwite, his children, Preston (Alicia) Buckskin, Chena Doney, Ella (Brock) Moss, and Summer Rain Flower Ariwite, his mother, Irene Ariwite, sister Leona (Barry) Ariwite-Taylor, Leo (Toni) Ariwite, Teri Wahtomy, uncles Snookins (Nora) Honena and Edward (Bessie) Nappo Jr and numerous nephews and nieces and grandchildren.Also surviving are his Indian brothers and sisters; Clarence Benally Jr. Ezra (Tilly) Benally, Conrad (Paula) Benally, Dathene Ariwite, Sharene Ariwite, Wesley Ariwite, Berva Baker, Danny (Velma) Ariwite, Rod (Rose) Ariwite, Lunita Ariwite, Sandra (Clinton) Plentywounds, Gregory Nappo, Jeff (Oleta) Nappo, Inna Nappo, Sam Nappo, Larry Honena and Donna, Vera, Brenda Honena his best friend bud Doug Taki.He was preceded in death by his father Leo Ariwite Sr sister Christy Ariwite-Cruz, Ferlin Ariwite, Edward Nappo III, Wendy Nappo, Malcom Nappo, Joyce Ariwite, grandmothers Hatti Honena Ariwite and Eula Warren Nappo Nevada, aunts Sadie and Lillian Ariwite, Elizabeth Nappo Benally and uncles Bill and ColburnAriwite.A prayer service will be held in his honor on Monday, May 27, 2013, at the Hawker Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home for an hour prior to services. They will also meet friends all day Monday until service time at the Irene Ariwite residence on Noyuse Road.Interment will be in the Salmon City Cemetery on Tuesday and the family will meet afterwards at the Salmon LDS Church for a luncheon.
