Kenneth Harley, age 86, of Hale, previously of Lum, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18 2016 at home.Kenneth A. Harley was born on March 13, 1929 in Arcadia Township. He was the son of William and Carrie Harley. Kenny grew up in Lum.He married Elaine Walker on June 21, 1948 in Imlay City. He and Elaine built their dairy farm together, while Kenny worked for the Department of Public Works in Imlay City. After selling their farm, they moved to Hale and owned a country store and gas station. Kenny enjoyed any place with a crowd, whether it was the pool hall, dancing at the KofC Hall with Elaine or just sitting on his front deck telling his stories to anyone who would listen. He loved deer hunting season, fishing, garage sales and anything about living "up north." He was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors, family and friends, finding that perfect gadget to fix what was broken in his vast collection in the garage. His laughter and encouragement to us all to be the best we can be will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.Kenny is survived by his wife, Elaine Harley of Hale; daughter, Karen (David) Nierescher of Renton, Wash.; son-in-law, Francis Blaszczyk of Hale; grandchildren, Kimberly (Dennis) Bryce of Birch Run, Aaron (Jesse) Blaszczyk of Charlevoix and Jessica (Zach) Chandler of Renton, Wash.; great grandchildren, Denise Bryce, Dennis Bryce, Sawyer Blaszczyk and Layla Chandler; brothers, Keith (Joan) Harley of Lapeer and John Harley of North Branch; and his best bud Jake, his four-legged friend. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Blaszczyk; his parents, William and Carrie Harley; brothers, Richard Harley, Mick Harley and Bill Harley; and sisters, Vivian Schneider and Peggy Knibbe.A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring.
