Kathyrn was born to Obadiah Matthews, and Willie Mae Matthews, November 10, 1941 in Michigan, Detroit, whom she shared her mother's womb with a her twin brother Clifford Matthews.

At the age of 2, Kathyrn and her family moved to Los Angeles, California. She attended high school in Los Angeles school district. Then she went on to attend Los Angeles preparatory school where she further her skills as a professional pianist. Kathy also attended classes at Contra Costa College where she recieved a certificate in cake decorating and baking.

In 1958, Kathyrn married Herman Turner producing two children; Cecilia " CeCe" and Michael, she was a loving and devoted mother to her precious jewels, her children. Kathy was a woman of many talents; she was a seamstress, hair stylist that designed and made wigs. Kathyrn had a hair business called K. Bernice hair. 

She also was a minister of music for 26 years,working for the Lord at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. John H Green. She worked with the youth department teaching ages from 2 to 18. Although she didn't have much of a voice, she produced many talented singers and musicians who are still carrying on her legacy till this day. That's how amazing she was. Everything she did she reached for perfection.

K athy was a patient loving,embracive and giving woman who always had a warm smile on her face even against all odds. She was a very glamorous woman who always shared her talents and skills to motivate and encourage those who God placed in her pathway. Through her pain and struggles she took that and turned it into power and wisdom. She fought hard for her family and always kept it real which was one of her biggest attributes.

Kathyrn proceeded in death by her father  Obadiah Matthews, her mother Willie Mae Matthews, her beloved twin brother Clifford Matthews, her 3 sisters Joyce, Betty and Ernestine and her brothers Charles and Donald Matthews

Kathy leaves behind her baby sister Lorraine Matthews, her two children, Cecilia and Michael Turner 

7 grandkids; Mikel, Kathina, Johnny, Christopher, Debonaire, Tiara and Terilynn

13 Great-grandchildren; Rasheed, Chris, Jaleel, Aiyanna, Kendia,Reg'Jon, Jaquez, Maddison,Ta'vion Jonny, La'Zora, Kaylawnia "Ivy"and Zion

A host of nieces, neohews and cousins whom she loved and adored so much with open arms.
