Kathleen Seamons Suisse, 89, passed away July 31, 2013. She was born on Dec. 27, 1923, in Hyde Park, Utah, to George Walter and Lois Chantrill Seamons. Mom was the youngest of 12, and the best-kept secret of our grandparents. Her siblings were greatly surprised when she made her appearance, as they had not been informed that they were going to have another brother or sister. Mom grew up in Hyde Park, where she attended elementary school and then went on to graduate from North Cache High School. Her growing-up years were spent helping out on the family farm, where she learned the value of hard work.Mom enjoyed singing. During the summers she would take her guitar with her to the pasture and sing to the cows. While at North Cache she performed in many of the school's operettas. She also had her 15 minutes of fame each week doing a show on the KVNU radio station. This lasted for a few months. Mom loved to roller skate. It was at the Logan Roller Rink that she met the love of her life on Christmas Eve, 1943. They were married Dec. 13, 1944, in St. Clair, Mich. Mom and Dad were sealed together for all eternity in the Logan Temple on Oct. 14, 1958. Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many different positions in the church and performed them admirably, but her greatest achievements were being a wife and mother. Mom and Dad were the proud parents of five children: Jay, Lois (Wayne) Carlson, David (Karen), Michael, and Annette (Grant) Laughter. She also had one foster daughter, Maggie (Paul) Israelsen. She has 23 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren. She is survived by three of her children: Lois, David and Annette. Preceding her in death is her husband James (Jim); two sons, Jay and Michael; her parents, George Walter and Lois Seamons; and all 11 of her siblings. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at the Hyde Park First Ward Chapel, 480 N. 100 West, Hyde Park. Friends and family may pay their respects from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Mortuary, 420 E. 1800 North, North Logan, on Aug. 7. There will also be a viewing at the church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the day of the funeral. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.allenmortuaries.net.
