KATHERINE (Kay) HAMONMarch 6, 1927 – November 11, 2016Kay of Regina, SK passed away after suffering from dementia for the past few years. She was predeceased by her husband Ed of 65 years; her parents John and Margaret Wilhelm; and brother-in-law Bob. She is survived by her son Tom and daughter-in-law Tracy; granddaughters MacKenzie (Peter Steele) and Callan; sister-in-law Ivy Hamon, all of Regina; her sister Mary Stott of Toronto; as well as five nieces and one nephew. Kay was born on March 6, 1927 in Semlacul-Mic, Romania and came to Canada with her parents in April that same year. She grew up in Regina, attending Central and Luther High Schools. She married her high school sweetheart Ed in 1948 and worked for a time in the civil service. Kay became a stay-at- home mom and ultimately found her calling as a volunteer serving our community. She helped out at the MacKenzie Art Gallery and the Travelling Art program which took paintings into local schools, but her biggest commitment was to the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE). Kay was a member and served in many capacities with the Elizabeth Regina Chapter, where she made many lifelong friends and later became Provincial President. Kay was an avid golfer and curler, alternating seasons between the Wascana Country Club and the Tam- O'Shanter league at the Tartan Curling Club. The family would like to thank the good staff on the 2nd floor of the Santa Maria Home and anyone wishing to make a donation in Kay's name may do so to the Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 190 Massey Rd, Regina, SK with Pastor Jeff Tank officiating.
