She graduated from Hobbs High School in Hobbs, New Mexico. After moving to Abilene, TX, Karla and Barry Mathis were blessed with a daughter on October 9, 1996. She is remembered by her child as being a kind and loving mother who always encouraged her to pursue her goals. Karla was a devoted mother and an avid reader. In her spare time, she loved spending time with family and listening to music. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her. Karla is survived by her mother, Diane Tarrant; her father, Gary Dyer; and her daughter, Kaela Mathis. She is preceded in death by her partner, Barry Lynn Mathis; and her brother, Quentin Tarrant.
