March 14, 1962 - November 22, 2016Karla Ann Speed passed away on November 22, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 54 after an extended illness. Karla was born on March 14, 1962, in Fort Benning, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her father Karl Vincent Hurdle, her grandparents John and Gertrude Reily, and Karl and Dorothy Hurdle. Karla was an ardent animal lover and was especially passionate about horses. She started riding at the age of eight and continued throughout her life. She also trained horses and coached many young riders to follow in her love of riding. She competed nationally and won many awards in hunter jumper competitions over the years.She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Karla is survived by her mother Nancy Hurdle, her brothers Colonel John Hurdle and his wife Katherine, Jim Hurdle and his wife Cathy, her aunt Judy Pacey and her husband Dr. Fred Pacey, cousins Kurt and Tim Pacey, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
