Fish, Julia Gibbs,97, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Parr's at Springhurst. A native of London, England, she was born on May 23, 1920 to John Edward Gibbs and Violet Annie Hatcher Gibbs. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Franklin Fish, her brother, John Michael Gibbs (RAF, retired), her sister, Patricia M. Wright, and her son-in-law, Stewart E. Conner.She served her community in many capacities, including as the President and Trustee of the former Crescent Hill Woman's Club, a charter member of the Compass Club, a member of the Daughters of the British Empire, a full member of The Royal Society of St. George of England, a member of the Louisville Historical Society, and a member of Christ Church United Methodist. An avid reader, she also owned and operated Brownsboro Road Bookstore for many years.She was instrumental in getting safer sidewalks installed along Herr Lane as the Civil Defense Chairwoman of Wilder Elementary School, as well as having such sidewalks installed along Westport Road near the old Westport High School, for as a survivor of the London Blitz during the Second World War, the overall safety of children was a cause near to her heart.She is survived by her daughter, Joan "Jef" Elizabeth Conner, her son, James "Jamie" McLaughlin Fish (Nancy), her grandchildren, George Hunt Rounsavall, Jr. (Kelly), Gibbs Hanson Rounsavall (Sara), Christine Rounsavall Mueller (Aaron), Alexandra Elizabeth Fish, Nicholas Davenport Fish, Shannon Conner Smock (Clint), Erin Conner Wales (Chris), and Margaret "Maggie" Conner Faurest (Michael), her nephew, Jason Wright of Surrey, England, her niece, Philippa Gibbs Lee, of Sydney, Australia, and fourteen great-grandchildren: Julia, Krista, Kara, Edith, Thea, Charlotte, Thomas, Frances, Aidan, Lucy, Cassidy, Henry, Clarke and James.A private, graveside service was held on Saturday, September 9, 2017.
