Joyce Erdman WayPassed away peacefully at her home in Aurora, Ontario on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Joyce was diagnosed in November 2016 with ALS and the disease progressed rapidly. Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Greg Way, their daughter, Lori, and her two cherished grandchildren: Julian and Clarisa. Joyce was born on August 29, 1949 in Washington, D.C. When she was 3, her parents sailed with her across the Caribbean from Costa Rica to Puerto Rico where they lived on their sailboat throughout her childhood. In 1967, Joyce attended Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio where on her second day there, she met the love of her life – Greg. They moved to Regina, Saskatchewan in 1970 where Joyce worked as a librarian assistant for the Regina Public Library. After moving to Aurora, Ontario in 1994, Joyce worked at Pickering College library and St. John's Music. She retired early along with Greg in 2006. First and foremost, Joyce was a full time wife and mother, dedicating herself entirely to caring for her family. She was an exceptional cook and an immaculate homemaker, a perfectionist who always gave her family the best and the best of herself. Kind, considerate, and compassionate by nature, joy shone from within, through her eyes and her smile that she shared so freely with all. At Joyce's request, there will be no public service and in lieu of flowers, she has requested donations be made to either ALS Canada (als.ca donate) or Diabetes Canada (diabetes.ca donate, tribute gift).
