Joyce A. GavanAGE: 83 • LakewoodJoyce Alice Anderson, 83, went peacefully in her sleep to rejoin her husband, Michael, on July 20, 2017 at her home in Lakewood. She was born on October 19th, 1933, in Glendale, California, to Lucille Vivian Brady Anderson (Munoz) and John Alvar Anderson. Growing up in Glendale, she attended Holy Family Grade School and High School through her sophomore year, when the family relocated to Lakehurst, New Jersey. She then attended Lakewood High School, where she met and fell in love with Michael T. Gavan. After graduating from Lakewood in 1951 she attended nursing school in Trenton, and married Michael in October 26, 1952. They were blessed with four children, Annmarie, Michael T. Jr. (Tom), Kevin and Brendan. She was an active member of Saint Mary's Academy Mothers Club and later in life became a Eucharistic Minister. She was an adventurous soul who loved to travel, especially with her husband -- her children still fondly remember a certain cross country road trip she took them on all by herself. She had a loyal, caring nature and was always there for anyone in need. She was most proud of her eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Kevin, Kieran, Michael, Tara, Shea, Brady and Liam who she loved unconditionally. A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and the best big sister anyone could ask for, Joyce's heart was as large as her family, and her generous spirit will live on in each of us. Joyce is predeceased by her husband, Michael, their daughter, Annmarie, and her siblings, John Alvar (Jack) Anderson, Gerald Jerome (Jerry) Anderson Mary Claire (Munoz) Bagayas, and Merrill Patrick Munoz.
