Mr. Joseph Ramon Bateman, 63, of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the Suwannee Valley Haven Hospice after an extended illness. Mr. Bateman, was born on March 28,1952 in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to the late Ousbon Allen Bateman, Sr. and Nerys Seleste Fajardo. He has been a resident of Lake City since 2006, and was the Veterans Administration Property Manager. He also served in the Air Force. He was of the Catholic Faith. He loved tinkering with his trains and model airplanes, glass blowing and loved to shoot his guns. He was a jack of all trades. He is preceded in death by his brother Allen Bateman. He is survived by his loving wife: Rachel Griner Bateman of Lake City; Mother: Nerys S. Bateman of Port St. Lucie, Florida; daughters: Bonita Michelle Hall (Bobby) of North Wilksboro and Nerys M. Cothren (Brandon) of Wilkesboro, North Carolina; sister: Cathy Tranchida (Paul) of Bedford Hills, Nork York; Aunt Kathy Fajardo of Lxahatchee, Florida. One granddaughter: Ena N. Shomaker of Ferguson, North Carolina. Three grandsons: Tommy J. Shomaker and Wesley Warren Gwyn both of Ferguson, North Carolina. William Andrew Bateman (Summer) of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
