"Joe" 78, passed away on April 27, 2015 at his home in Rio Linda, CA. His life journey began in Springfield, Ohio on August 30, 1936, born to Ernest and Winona (Jenkins) Lynn. In 1955, he graduated from Springfield High School and joined the United States Air Force. He began his Air Force career in the Military Police and later cross-trained into Military Personnel. During his military career he was stationed at various military installations in the United States, Asia, Africa and Europe which allowed him to travel to numerous countries worldwide. After serving 26 years in the Air Force he retired in 1981 and went to work for the United States Postal Service where he worked for 24 years. He started as a mail carrier and within a few years was promoted to management. He was previously married to Vivian Jefferson and to that union four children were born, Vanessa, Danetta, Geoffrey, and Vangela. The marriage ended in divorce. He married Sheila (Trondson) Oakes, in May 1975. Sheila brought two children, DeAnne and Jeffrey, into the marriage. Joe & Sheila had two children together, Jay and Tamara. Joe enjoyed family and friends, traveling, working on cars, going to the casino, playing pinochle, bowling, golf, playing and coaching softball, coin collecting, going to flea markets, pretzels, and the "garden parties" (yard work) that were well known to his children. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Katherine (Davis), sisters Ruth Lynn and Charlotte "Pat" Harris, brothers William "Bill" Lynn and Donald "Don" Lynn, infant daughter Vanessa, and son Geoffrey.
