Joseph I. Stephen, age 88, of South Branch, formerly of Genesee, passed away on April 11, 2016 at his home. He was born on July 24, 1927 in Vassar. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved vegetable gardening, farm life, antique engines and farm machinery. He was a member of Pioneer Power Club of West Branch, Mid-Michigan Antique Machinery Association of Clio and a member of Whittemore Baptist Church and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.Joseph is survived by his children, Rod, Jenny, Brenda, Ted, Brad and Jeff; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Pete, and sister, Rose; special niece, Ruth Ann Hart, and special friend Ron; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita; four sisters and one brother.Visitation will be on Thursday, April 14 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home, 121 S. Washington, Hale. The service will be at 10 a.m. at the funeral home on Friday, April 15 with interment in Riverside Cemetery in Vassar.
