Joseph Beasley Jr., known to friends and loved ones as Macon, was born on Feb. 2, 1954, (a favorite holiday of his, Groundhog's Day) in Onslow, NC, passed away in Jacksonville, FL., his home away from home, on Feb. 7, 2016, from heart complications. Macon is survived by his soulmate and fiancé, Colleen; five loving daughters, Peyton, Jana, Harleigh (Kyle Touchton), Fallon (Brandon) and Amanda (Mathew), the mother of his two beautiful grandchildren, Whitley and Korben; sister, Kitti (Ed) Dodson. Graduating as Valedictorian and all-star athlete from NC State, Macon truly was a leader of the (Wolf)pack. Serving as a Lt. in the Navy on U.S.S Saratoga, Macon modeled the all-american man and developed a proud patriotism that followed him throughout his life. He will be remembered for his immense knowledge and wisdom that he balanced with quirky jokes, and an ever-caring personality for anyone and everyone who had the blessing to meet Macon. He cherished long rides in his 1983 Ford Mustang, collecting historical treasures, gathering with long time stamp club members, sharing sunsets with his love, Colleen and watching his daughters grow into the beautiful legacy he has built for his family. He will be missed by all, friends and family are invited to celebrate Macon with services on Sunday, Feb. 14th, to share love, laughter, and memories at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 5753 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL from 6-8 p.m. and again on Monday, Feb. 15th (President's Day) at 9 a.m. Macon will find rest in the Jacksonville National Cemetery and forever in our hearts. Please post words of comfort at Hardage-giddensrivermead.com.
