Joseph A. Hern, 62, a resident of Las Vegas passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in Las Vegas.He was born on April 19, 1954 in Santa Fe to Ed Hern and Erlinda Felicita Rivera.Joseph loved fishing, being a grandpa and spending time with his grandkids. He was a die-hard Peyton Manning "Omaha" Denver Bronco fan. He was a member of the Jaycees, a painter at the Las Vegas Medical Center and was a 1972 graduate of West Las Vegas. A Catholic he was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Ella Hern; and sister, Kelly Hern.He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Hern and fiancé, Joel Maddux of Las Vegas; son: Joss Hern Aragon and wife Bonnita Cummings of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Brandan Maddux and fiancée, Angel Trujillo, Shyan Maddux, Cameron Maddux, all of Las Vegas, Danika Aragon, Luke Cummings and Jacob Cummings of Albuquerque; great-granddaughter: Ethalle Trujillo Maddux of Las Vegas; brothers and sisters, Norman Hern (Amalia Gallegos), Wanda Hern (Porfirio Perez), Gina Gurule, all of Las Vegas; nephews, Brian Gurule, David Gurule (Lana), all of Las Vegas, Matthew Gurule and Kyrstin Gurule of Albuquerque, Samuel Hern (Heather and family) of Española, and Jonathan Hern (Marie) of Albuquerque, aunt, Nellie Hern of Portales; special friend, Benny "Huga" Gonzales of Las Vegas; special cousins, Leroy Hern of Las Vegas, and Martin Aragon of Albuquerque; numerous other cousins, relatives and many friends.Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas with Father Paul Grala as celebrant. Cremation has taken place. Serving as urn bearer will be Cameron Maddux.
