Joseph Jackson Goettle Obituary

Sep 23, 1945 - Dec 17, 2024

This obituary is administered by:

Joseph Jackson Goettle, affectionately known as Jack, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, in Spokane, Washington. Born on September 23, 1945, in Libby, Montana, Jack lived a life rich with love and laughter that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

At the tender age of eighteen, Jack answered the call of duty and served honorably in the Army stationed in Germany from 1963 to 1967. His time there shaped his character and instilled values he carried throughout his life—dedication to family and an unwavering sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.

After returning home from military service, Jack embarked on a career as a miner and logger in Troy Montana and North Dakota. He embraced hard work with enthusiasm but always found time for fun. Known for his quick wit and playful jokes, he had an uncanny ability to lighten any room he entered. Friends often remarked that being around Jack was like basking in sunshine; his laughter was infectious.

Jack's greatest pride came from his beloved family. He is survived by his devoted wife Mary Jo Goettle; their children Michele (and her partner), Blain (and partner), Sheena (and her partner), Joe (and partner), Leeann (and her partner); along with numerous grandchildren who adored their "Papa," as well as great-grandchildren who filled his heart with immeasurable joy. Family gatherings were sacred occasions where stories were shared over hearty meals—a testament to the bond they all cherished deeply.

As we remember Joseph Jackson Goettle’s remarkable journey through life—a journey marked by love for family above all else—we invite friends and loved ones to join us for a memorial celebration at Mary Jo’s home on December 23rd at 1 PM. Though this gathering comes together rather last minute due to circumstances beyond our control, we hope you will come share your memories of Jack—the man whose spirit will forever remain alive within each one of us.

In lieu of flowers or gifts during this difficult time please consider sharing your favorite story about Jack or simply bringing your warmest smiles—he would have wanted it no other way.
