Rosettie , John S.John S. Rosettie, 61, of Old County Road in Caton, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 after a brief illness. John was born on January 22, 1956 in Corning, NY to Thomas J. Rosettie and Grace (Miller) Rosettie. He attended Corning East High School and graduated from both SUNY Morrisville and Corning Community College. He received a degree in 'Mechanical Technology' from CCC where he graduated at the top of his class and served as Standard Bearer for that program at his graduation. John had a long and distinguished career at Corning, Inc., serving in many different engineering related capacities and was highly respected for his ability to identify and solve complex mechanical and product related problems. He was also an avid skier, serving as a PSIA certified master ski instructor at Bristol Mountain (Bristol, NY) for many years and will be sorely missed by his Bristol 'family'. In addition to instructing novice skiers of all ages, John was a particularly proud instructor with the Oasis Adaptive Support Organization, specializing in teaching skiing to handicapped veterans. In addition to skiing, John was primarily a self-taught and accomplished musician who played multiple string and keyboard instruments. He loved getting together with friends for impromptu 'jam sessions'. Given his engineering background, John's basement was his haven where he loved to disassemble and rebuild various machinery and equipment, particularly vintage motorcycles. He was an incredibly meticulous individual who worked with tremendous focus and precision. At the age of 45, John finally met the love of his life in Mary (Cox) Rosettie. They married in 2002, and spent 15 wonderful years together. John and Mary lived a very faith filled life as communicants of All Saints Parish, and undoubtedly that strong faith and belief in Jesus Christ carried them through John's final days. In addition to his wife Mary, John is survived by his children, John Thomas and Locke Bonomo; mother Grace Rosettie of Corning; brother James (Erika) of Hammondsport, NY; sisters Irene (Daniel) Rooney of Mt. Sterling, KY, and Ann (George) Patterson of Louisville, KY; special great-uncle Philip Dellisante of Horseheads, NY and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
