"Papa John" McDonald, 72, of Wilmington, NC passed away Thursday, June 8, 1945 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.He was born on March 6, 2017 in Rochester, NY and served in the Marines during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Post 10 American Legion and was a former Junior Governor of the Wilmington Moose Lodge.A former Fire Chief in Lake Hiawatha, NJ, he also worked as a mechanic for R.W. Moore Equipment in Wilmington for many years and most recently had been employed with Fry & Associates Landscapers in Wilmington. John always had a positive attitude and a smile that would light up the room.He is survived by the love of his life, Dawn Evans McDonald; his son, John McDonald and wife Christy; his daughter, April McDonald; his step-son, Jason Vics and wife Devin; his grandchildren, Kayla, Madison, Brandon and Kensy; his two brothers; his one sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his brother and two sisters.A Celebration of Life and visitation will begin at 1:00pm June 17, 2017 at Andrews Valley Chapel.Memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice 1414 Physicians Dr, Wilmington, NC
