FREDERICK, John KurtJohn Kurt Frederick, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was taken suddenly to heaven on November 21, 2016, at the age of 56, after suffering a pulmonary embolism at his home in Austin, Texas. Kurt was born on January 6, 1960 in Port Acres, Texas, to his parents Evie Jo and Bob Frederick. Kurt grew up in Beaumont, Texas, alongside his sister Jana and brother Chris. He was an outstanding student and athlete in high school and college. He attended UT Southwestern Medical School, where he met and married his wife, Sue, in 1986. Kurt was a dedicated physician from 1986 to 2016. He was a proud partner of Premier Family Physicians in Austin, where he will be remembered as a caring doctor whose patients trusted and admired him. He was a steadfast member of Austin Ridge Bible Church, and he brought his passion for science, history and faith to his community. Kurt enjoyed studying history, exploring the outdoors, woodworking, being a football official, fishing, walking his dogs, reading, and traveling. Above all, he was a family man and loved being "Goober" to his grandchildren. Kurt will be remembered as a leader and man of integrity by his patients, friends, and family. Kurt is survived by his wife Sue; daughter JoAnna (Tyler) Witzig and daughter Charlotte of Upland, Indiana; daughter Jewel (Matt) Duchamp and sons Bobby and Lee of Austin, Texas; daughter Joy (Lance) Sutton of Argyle, Texas; his son Johnny of Austin, Texas; and mother Evie Jo Frederick. He joins his first grandchild, Faith Witzig, in heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Reasons to Believe, a ministry dedicated to integrating faith and science. A celebration of Kurt's life will take place at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 28, at Austin Ridge Bible Church.
