John Franklin BennettCROSS PLAINS, TXJohn Franklin Bennett, 88, of Cross Plains, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017, in Brownwood, TX.Funeral service will be held Friday, October 20, 2017, at 11:00AM at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Cross Plains, Texas. The family will have a time of visitation at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 19, 2017, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. John was born on April 25, 1929, to the late William Jennings Bryan and Alta Lee-Bennett in Callahan County, TX. John graduated high school from Cross Plains High and went on to attend Texas A&M University and Texas Weslyan College where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree. John also served his country during Korean War doing a tour in Germany. One of John's favorite things to do was going into town for coffee every morning. He also enjoyed slow drives and watching people as they would line up behind him. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Abilene, Texas. John will be missed by all who knew and loved him. John also leaves behind a host friends.John is survived by his sister-in-law, Carol Sue Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
