John Edmond JacksonJohn Edmond Jackson, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, died peacefully on June 24, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.Ed was born on November 24, 1926 in Campti, LA. His strong spiritual character and moral determination were shaped by Christian parents during the Depression years and he was baptized at the age of nine. He served his country in the Army infantry during
World War II. His ship was en route to a strategic battlefield in the Pacific when the war ended in 1945.He married his college sweetheart, Gloria Robinson, in 1949. After graduating from Northwestern State College with a degree in business, he and his young family moved to Shreveport, LA, where he began a successful career as a CPA with Peat, Marwick, and Mitchell (KPMG). After moving to Corpus Christi, TX in 1964, Ed was promoted to partner. He retired in 1986 after a long and distinguished professional career with the company.Ed was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Corpus Christi for 52 years. During that time he served as deacon, choir member, Sunday school teacher, treasurer and other leadership positions. He was also a long time member of the
Rotary Club and the Friday Morning Group.He loved the outdoor life, especially, fishing in the Laguna Madre and hunting deer, dove, and quail in South Texas brush country. His greatest joy though, was enjoying spending time with his extended family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.Ed was preceded in death by his wife of thirty nine years, Gloria Robinson Jackson, followed by his wife of twenty three years Laura June Jackson.He is survived by his children: Eddie Jackson and wife Paulette; David Jackson and wife Linda; Jeff Jackson and wife Donna; grandchildren: Jason Grant (Maria); Jeffrey Grant (Monica); Emily Mayer (Mike); Chris Jackson (Monica); Matt Jackson, Amy Jackson Nickell (Ryan); Allison Cavazos (Josh); Charlie Jackson; Mary Jackson and six great-grandchildren; a brother; Jim Jackson of Florida; sister; Bernice Paxton of Louisiana.A Visitation is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Corpus Christi, TX. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with interment in Seaside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made to First Baptist Church.
