John Smith, 63, of Dry Fork, Virginia, passed on December 30, 2022 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson NC. John was born on June 25, 1959, in Greensboro NC to Margie Dickerson Smith and James Winford Smith who both preceded him in death

John attended Guilford county schools and worked as a maintenance man for most of his life. John was a man of many talents and loved spending time with his family. He could often be found caring for his grandchildren being the best pop pop in the whole world.

John is survived by his wife of 40 years Nell Hawkins Smith and his children Stephanie Smith Ferguson (Nick Piclo) Samantha Smith (Austin Schuyler) and Jon Smith (Lauren), grandchildren Jordan Ferguson Bailey Ferguson Kasey Ferguson Saylor Ferguson and Aubrey Herndon

A celebration and Memorial service of John’s life will be held at a later date.
