Mr. John Attridge, age 77 years, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 at TBRHSC after a brief illness with acute myeloid leukemia. His family was by his side. John was born on June 5, 1939 to Alfred and Mary Attridge. He was a life long resident of Thunder Bay. John married Anne Stranges on November 19, 1960 and together they had three daughters, Julie, Lisa and Allison. At 15 years old, John worked as a deck hand on the ships and sailed Lake Superior. He later held various positions before he found his passion in life insurance, estate and financial planning. John was a successful businessman who cared about his clients. Not one to sit idle, John always had many projects on the go, determined to fulfil them. John loved being in nature and built a log home in Sunshine, where he gardened and entertained family and friends. After his retirement in 2007 from John Attridge Financial Services, John enjoyed his time with his wife Anne and dog Mia at Mokomon Lake and his early morning coffee group at McDonald's. Also, in his retirement John formed Cabaret of Stars, mastering the art of puppetry with popular singers from the past. This brought John great joy as he performed at various places throughout Thunder Bay. John was predeceased by his parents, brother Billy, in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Tony Stranges and grandson Jordan. He is survived by his wife Anne, daughters Julie (Mark) Kapush, Lisa (John) Bailey and Allison (Terry) Dolhan, grandchildren Jessica and Shannon Kapush and Blythe and Cameron Bailey. He is also survived by his brothers Gordon, Danny, Allan and sister Georgina. Funeral Mass for the late Mr. Robert John Attridge with be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:00 am in Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church celebrated by Fr. Victor DeGagne. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre. If friends so desire, donations in memory of John may be made to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation-(Oncology) or to a charity of your choice.
